Selling American products to Asian markets is always a challenge.  This panel discussion with 3 distinguished guests from 3 different industries will share their observations ideas on topics such as:
 
·         What key points are differentiated when selling in Asia?
·         How do you find and hire good sales people in Asia?
·         What are the key marketing principles used in Asia vs. here in the USA?
·         How does technology impact the cultural value of relationships in selling products in Asia?

Michel Locquegnies, Business Owner, Mark Tech International, LLC
 
Michel is a 2-time winner of the highest export award in the USA; the Presidential “E” award for excellence in exporting. The  most recent was in 2014 when his company was 1 of only 49 US manufacturing companies given the award. In Minnesota, in 2014 he also lead to his team winning the Minnesota Governor’s International Trade Award given to only 9 Minnesota headquartered companies. He has also received several other significant trade awards during his career.
 
He has over 30 years of experience working for US and foreign headquartered companies in a wide variety of industries from Transportation, Aerospace, IT and a variety of others and today serves as the Business Owner of Mark-Tech International, LLC.  This firm advises and leads clients to profitably expand their global sales, market share, customer base, and supplier base through using direct sales force; manufacturer’s representatives; and commission agents; value added resellers; system integrators; and distributors.  He is currently serving as an executive board member of the Minnesota chapter of the District Export Council (DEC). He is also an active member of US China Business Connection and Minnesota International center.

 

Sam (ThuThao) Nguyen, National Operations Manager (Vietnam)
 
Sam Nguyen has spent the last 7 years in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam working in an operational and business development role for the Malaysian sub franchisor of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and for the sub franchisor, Burger King Vietnam.  While at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, she managed the operations of 11 stores in Ho Chi Minh and progressively opened and managed another 3 throughout Vietnam.  Responsible for the P&L of all stores, she was also responsible for maintaining operational aspects of product, service and store environment quality standards, and trained and developed store level management teams.  While there she effectively positioned the company to compete and win against the new entrant of Starbucks.  While at Burger King Vietnam, she held a similar role and was responsible for the operational performance of their 17 restaurants in Vietnam.
