Creating survey questions and answers
When you create or update a survey, you will be taken to the Manage Survey Questions page to create survey questions. Each question you create can have one or more multiple-choice answers using radio buttons or open multiple-choice answers using check boxes.
You can also get to the questions for an existing survey by clicking the number under the "Questions" column for that survey on the main Survey admin page.
Creating a new question
To create a new question, click the Add a New Question link in the upper right of the Manage Survey Questions page. Then fill out the following fields:
Allow Multiple answers: This option allows users to choose more than one answer
Include “Other” at the end of answer list: Choosing yes here will give users an option to enter a “write-in” choice at the end of the answer list.
Question: Enter the survey question in the Editor.
Order Number: Choose the order in which the question will display. By default, each new question will be at the end, but you can choose a new order number for the question to make it appear higher in the question list.
Check this box to reset this results counter on all answers for this question: This is a safeguard in case the survey results to the question have been tampered with. You can also use it to reset the survey in case you have been testing it and are now ready to publish it.
Click Submit to save the question. You will now be taken to the Manage Survey Answers page.
Editing or deleting an existing question
From the Manage Survey Questions page, click the name of the question to edit the question text and/or question order. You can also reset the answers to the question if you need to. If you simply need to edit the answers to the question, click the number under the Answers column on the main Manage Survey Questions page. (See Creating answers to a question below.)
To delete one or more questions, check them off and click Delete Checked in the lower left. This will permanently delete the questions and all associated tracking info, so you will be asked to confirm your decision.
Creating answers to a question
From the Manage Survey Answers page (which you get to after saving a question, or by clicking the numbered answer link on the Manage Survey Questions page), you can create a new answer to the question. Each question can have as many answers as you wish, and they will be displayed as radio-button multiple-choice options or check-box options, depending on whether you chose to allow users to choose more than one answer for each question.
To create a new answer, click the Add a New Answer link in the upper right and fill out the following fields:
Answer: Enter the first answer in the editor to the question just created. For each answer entered, a radio button will be created. NOTE: Enter only one answer at a time.
Order Number: Choose the order in which the answer will display after the question. If no order is chosen, the answers will appear in the order in which they were created.
Check this box to reset this questions results counter: This is a safeguard in case the survey results to the question have been tampered with, or if you need to reset this question after testing the survey and before publishing it.
Click Submit when finished. This will create your answer and return you to the Manage Answers page. You can create another new answer, return to the Manage Survey Questions page using the link with the question text at the top center, or return to the survey details page using the link with the survey name at the top center.
Editing or deleting an answer
From the Manage Survey Answers page, click the name of the answer to edit the answer text and/or answer order. You can also reset the answers to the question if you need to.
To delete one or more answers, check them off and click Delete Checked in the lower left. This will permanently delete the answers and all associated tracking info, so you will be asked to confirm your decision.
When you are finished creating all the questions and answers to your survey, you need to link the survey to a page on your site.
