Uploading documents/files and linking to page
You can link any kind of document or file to a web page on your site. This includes PDFs, Excel files, ZIP files, Flash movies, and more.
Linking an uploaded file to a page
You can link any of your uploaded files to a page or any content area on your site. You can do this immediately after uploading the file, or you can link a file that was already uploaded. Here's how:
Go to your Upload Files link in Admin.
Find the file
When you find your file, highlight the URL listed
for the file under the "URL Reference" column. The
link will look something like associations/0/files/filename.ext.
Once you
highlight it, copy it by right-clicking the highlight and choose "Copy,"
or by pressing CTRL+C or OPTION+C on your keyboard.
NOTE: If you can't find your file, you'll need to upload
it first.
Bring up the content page or content area where you would like to create the link to the file. For example, to link the file to one of your sub pages, edit the subpage.
Highlight the word(s) or picture that should be
linked to the file, and click the
button in your Site Editor.
In the webpage dialog pop-up box, paste the file URL that you copied earlier into the URL field. To do this, click in the URL field and press CTRL+V (or OPTION+V for Macs), or right-click the field and choose "Paste."
Press OK button.
That's it! You can go to the page on the front end of your site to test out your link. If you did it right, the file or document will open when you click it.
Deleting an uploaded file
You can delete an uploaded file from the Upload Files area. Just check off the file or files you wish to delete, and then click the Delete Checked button at the bottom. Be careful, as this will permanently delete the files. Also, any links to the files or images will no longer work once you delete the files.
